SAFE MOTHERHOOD INITIATIVE - NANKANA  

The Nankana Safe Motherhood Initiative Project is now underway. It is modeled on the Punjab Safe Motherhood Initiative Project (PSMIP) in Sheikhupura. The aim of the project is to reduce maternal mortality and improve pregnancy outcome.
Community meetings have begun, hiring for staff is ongoing, and awareness seminars in the area have been arranged. A media workshop related to the project was successfully held at the premises of JSCD on 4 October 2007 – it will be followed by a field visit of the media to the project area.
