| With your support, the Indus Walk was successfully completed on the 5th of September 2007. Water Champions from forty-four districts across Pakistan traversed the deserts, plains, plateaus, hills, rivers and lakes of the country, contiguous to the Indus River on a month long expedition. These water champions are in a position now to disseminate the lessons of an invaluable experience. Their interdisciplinary knowledge on water issues and an in-depth look at Pakistan’s water crisis has prompted them to develop a keen understanding of some of the possible solutions. | |
| The next phase of the campaign is thus directly linked to our water champions. Earlier this year, Pani Pakistan had organized sensitization seminars at colleges across Pakistan. Now, at the end of the walk and with forty-eight highly skilled water champions, we wish to step up the awareness campaign and conduct seminars in government schools, similar to the ones conducted in colleges. We are already being supported by UNICEF in the following districts: Kasur, Sheikhupura, Mianwali, Rajanpur, R.Y. Khan and Bahawalpur. | |
